Approximately 2.5 million people in the U.S. suffer from epilepsy; of these, more than one million are women of child-bearing age. With concerns about everything from medication-related birth defects to falls during seizures, many of these women are fearful of having children. The good news is that, with proper prenatal care, more than 90% will deliver healthy babies.Epilepsy and Pregnancy gives readers the basic facts they need to help them make medical decisions throughout preconception, pregnancy, labor, delivery, and the early days after childbirth. Topics include preconception, fertility, pregnancy risks, risks to the fetus, nutrition, keeping fit, what to expect during pregnancy, fetal development, and labor and delivery.
In addition, the book includes guidelines for the use of antiepileptic drugs during pregnancy, recommendations, and questions to ask their neurologist, recommended daily allowances by age group, glossary, and much more. Epilepsy and Pregnancy is an essential guide for any woman who suffers from epilepsy and desires to have a child.

I have to say as a young girl growing up I was the same as Stacey Chillemi when I first got epilepsy at a really early age in my life and I live in Ireland and when there was books out on epilepsy they were only 3 books and they were all doctor language stuff that I couldn’t understand about epilepsy when I wanted help with understanding on how to live with epilepsy so growing up with epilepsy I had nothing to help me understand it a bit more. as I got older I decided one day that I need to look for more information on how to manage my tables if I was to decide that I want to have a baby sometime soon in my life so I Google it up and I seen Stacey Chillemi book called epilepsy and pregnancy, so I went to a bookstore in portlaoise called allbooks and I ask them did they have that book and they sad no but they told me they could look it up on there computer for me so they did and they told me that it’s not out in the UK or Ireland yet that it’s only in the US at the moment but they told me that they could order it in for me and I said ya if you could do that for me it would be brilliant. when I got the book I read the whole book and I got the information I was looking for on how to manage my tables and be pregnant at the same time. I would like to say that I found stacey chillemi book really helpful for me and I would like to see more of your books on epilepsy here in Ireland in all of our local bookstores on all book shelves all over Ireland because people in Ireland with epilepsy are really trying to search for more help and information on epilepsy and how to live with it because we dont have anofe information in Ireland on epilepsy and how to live with it and it’s even harder for the women in Ireland who have epilepsy. Thanks for your help on epilepsy Stacey Chillemi.
